  • 3rd Annual Reach for the Stars Swim Meet

The Libertyville Stars are hosted the 3rd Annual Reach for the Stars Meet on February 11th! Athletes from Belvidere Park District, Evanston Special Recreation, Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, Iddy Biddy Pool, Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association, Northwest Special Recreation Associations, Northern Will County Special Recreation Association, Quality Swim, Lambs Farm, and Libertyville Stars Swim Club competed in various events including unified relays with partner athletes without a disability. As a part of the inclusion revolution, we were joined by Dhanuka Samarakoon, an athlete with Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, who sang the national anthem!

Thanks to our sponsors, including Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club, Jewel-Osco, The Picnic Basket and Gourmet Food Works, Duck Donuts, Magnolia Cafe Lambs Farm, and the Ray and Marie Zajic Trust. Thank you also to the many volunteers from Stars families and Carmel Catholic High School, unified partners and coaches from Libertyville High School, Carmel Catholic High School, Carl Sandberg Middle School and local swim clubs MMSC, COHO, PX3, and Rise. Thank you also to the officiating crew through Illinois Swimming. These meets would not be a success without partners in our community!
